The Porter Assistance Project

Highlights

Role playing in an English course for porters. Tourists from Lukla drop in to assist with the classes.

A skit to demonstrate the signs and treatment of hypothermia.

Pasang Sherpa (center, back row), Executive Director of the Everest Foundation (EF), helps run the Program. The EF has received assistance from Sir Edmund Hillary.

Ken Stober, IMEC Development Director, poses with climber Tim Macnartney-Snape at an REI benefit.

All clothing is cataloged, clearly labeled with the Program logo (to prevent theft), and stored in our Kathmandu or Lukla offices.

Porters descend from the Tashi Laptsa pass (18,800ft.) outfitted in equipment from the clothing bank. The pass has no teahouses or lodges.
