A Guide for
Creating Your Own Volunteer Opportunities in Nepal

Since its
inception in 1996, The International Mountain Explorers Connection
has received many requests from its members for information about
volunteer opportunities in Nepal. Directories that list volunteer
opportunities overseas can readily be found, but none of them address
Nepal specifically. In addition, IMEC members wanted not only the
names of specific organizations in Nepal that accept volunteers,
but also practical information on how to best approach these organizations
and secure a position.
As
a result, we are proud to present the Nepal Volunteer Handbook. This handbook
reflects the knowledge and insights of a group of individuals who have
lived and worked in Nepal for over 15 years combined. The Handbook offers
potential volunteers everything they will need to know about volunteering
in Nepal, including a personal skills assessment, background on the history
of foreign assistance in Nepal, tips for ensuring a worthwhile experience,
and information on over 50 volunteer leads. Updated every year!
The Handbook is available
for download in MS Word at no cost to IMEC members (please contact
us if you need a text version). A printed version is also available
for IMEC members for $10 (to cover printing and shipping/handling
expenses). Nonmembers of the IMEC can join by calling (303)998-0101
or by joining
online.
